With over a decade in the public relations arena, Laura Ackermann has developed a proven track record, not only with entertainment-driven accounts with a specialization in tween/teen clients, but also in lifestyle public relations with an emphasis on expert brand building. Ackermann represents numerous personal entertainment clients, lifestyle, digital content creators, media companies and brand representation clients and has implemented strategic publicity for nonprofits and high-profile events as well.
Laura founded Advantage PR six years ago and over the years, she has been fortunate to represent both established talent (Sara Rue, Charisma Carpenter, Constance Zimmer, Jeff Garlin, Kate Walsh, Jeannie Mai, to name a few) and has cultivated a specialty in elevating and transforming the careers of the next generation of breakout talent. Currently, Advantage PR works with some of the hottest stars in the business including Olivia Holt (Lead in Marvel's CLOAK AND DAGGER), Lonnie Chavis (THIS IS US), Bex Taylor-Klaus (13 REASONS WHY), Tyler Oakley, Ryan Jamaal Swain (FX’s POSE), Madison Iseman, Madison Davenport, Willow Shields, Cameron Monahan (GOTHAM, SHAMELESS) and Taylor Spreitler (KEVIN CAN WAIT), to name a few. Laura and her team were integral to the launch of the careers of Sarah Hyland, Yara Shahidi, Joey King, Shay Mitchel, Bella Thorne and Sabrina Carpenter, who were all a part of the Breakout Talent Division at Advantage.
In the media company space Ackermann has represented Beautycon Media, ipsy, Stylehaul and BBTV to name a few. Advantage PR strives to implement Laura's vision of what a boutique agency should represent; most importantly: delivering consistent results to every client, building lasting, strategic impressions and crafting strong campaigns by maximizing each client’s story, brand and image. Ackermann's relationships with editors across the board are top notch and built upon a foundation of mutual understanding and respect. Advantage PR continues to rep established and breakout talent, digital influencers, media companies and lifestyle brands, with offices in L.A., Chicago and NY.
Ackermann moved to LA from Chicago when she was seventeen years old to pursue her dream of becoming a dancer, where she learned the importance of hard work and dedication. She worked and experienced all sides of the entertainment business from casting to film studios to TV networks. After earning a Bachelor's Degree in Women’s Studies with an emphasis in Communication & Film from California State University, Northridge, Laura worked as a senior publicist at Much & House Public Relations. She was promoted to vice president at Much & House and developed the Breakout Talent Division from its inception. Utilizing her experience in the industry, Ackermann branched out on her own and merged with Persona PR where she was a partner at the firm. Advantage PR formerly operated as an umbrella company under Persona PR before launching as an independent entity on December 15, 2015.
Along with countless hours working to facilitate her client's goals and dreams, Ackermann also has a strong desire to work with various charities that she feels benefit the community. Each year she chooses a charity and works pro bono on a PR campaign for the worthy organization.
